Hiring Administrator and Social Media Officer

Play Disrupt is hiring an Administrator and Social Media Officer to support our operational activities and to share content about our exciting projects. This role will provide capacity to our growing organisation. We are ideally looking for someone to grow with us as a company. About us

We launched Play:Disrupt in early 2020, using play and creativity to make consultation and public engagement more inclusive and further reaching. This work focuses on the built environment, from creative programming for high streets, to visioning for new communities, to training local authority personnel in creative engagement methods. We are interested in how storytelling, technology and active engagement can help us to have better conversations and deliver better and more equitable outcomes.  Play:Disrupt also works within the health and wellbeing sector, and academic research to support systemic change in community consultation and engagement.

Our background is in street theatre and visual art, and this experience influences all our work. 

Where we are now

We are a team of two permanent staff (Creative Director and Operations Director) and we work with freelance associates and freelance facilitators on a project by project basis. Since launching we have run a wide range of successful projects across the country, and have a variety of work in the pipeline.

We are now looking to hire someone to support the efficient running and operations of the company. This will enable us to seek out more clients, deliver more projects and grow at a manageable pace.

Job Description

On a day to day basis, you will be joining our Operations Director, Jenny and Creative Director, Malcolm.

We’re looking for someone to assist with the administrative running of the company, working directly with the Operations Director. We are also looking for someone who can plan and deliver social media content, with content provided to them. 

This role is initially offered as a 6 month contract, but we hope and expect that with sufficient additional projects it will continue on a permanent basis.

Role will include 


  • Credit control
  • Invoicing
  • Assistance with monthly finance reporting
  • Purchasing materials on behalf of the company


  • Meeting booking
  • Opportunity researching
  • Minuting meetings and following up action points 
  • File management
  • Risk assessments
  • CRM (Customer relationship management)
  • Data monitoring
  • Support the development of organisational policies, efficient systems and processes

Project delivery

  • Support report writing and formatting
  • Support project management and production in collaboration with the Operations Director where required

Social media upkeep

  • Creating engaging content in collaboration with the team for Twitter, Instagram and LinkedIn 
  • Scheduling social media content to be pushed out on a regular basis
  • Understand and input around other digital marketing opportunities 

Website management

  • Updating website with content developed with the team (WordPress)

Other duties as reasonably required.

Person Specification

  • A strong communicator with exceptional interpersonal skills
  • Exceptional organisational skills with an ability to work effectively as part of a team and alone 
  • Excellent attention to detail 
  • Accurate copywriting abilities
  • Good computer skills including Microsoft Office and Google suite
  • Based in or close to Bristol
  • A passion for play, wellbeing, arts and engagement
  • Basic knowledge of social media usage

  • Experience of professional social media platforms eg. Hootsuite
  • Experience of creating a social media plan
  • Experience in WordPress (training will be provided)
  • Experience of CRM systems
  • Experience of administrative systems
  • Experience of financial systems
  • Valid UK driving licence 

We are offering £22,500 pro rata for 2.5 days/week. The contract will initially be offered on a 6 month basis, but we hope this role will continue and expand.

We’re based in Bristol City Centre, with an office on Marsh Street. We imagine this role will be mainly office based. We also sometimes work from home and we are happy to discuss a flexible approach to office/home working. Our office is unfortunately not wheelchair accessible, however we have a space arrangement with Pervasive Media Studio (across the road) which is fully accessible.

We are residents of Pervasive Media Studio at the Watershed.
